To the Tsimshain, the Bear symbolizes strength, family, courage, and health. The 'Matriarch Bear' platter is the design of Tsimshain artist Artist Morgan Asoyof of Lax Kw’alaams (AKA Port Simpson, near the famed Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary).
The stunning silver pate knife designed by Artist Paul Winds of Haisla, Heiltsuk (Kitimat region at the head of Douglas Channel) features the sacred wild salmon, which represents abundance, fertility, prosperity and renewal.
